This was a satire made in Sor Juana`s feminist point of view in order to demonstrate her unyielding position regarding the inequality of the biased tendentious society she often criticised in her writing for favoritisming men and diminishing women`s role in society.
"You foolish men who lay
the guilt on women,
not seeing you’re the cause
of the very thing you blame;"
These are the words of Sor Juana Inés in her poem "Hombres Necios" also known as "You Foolish Men" .
Satire
Maybe men were made by God`s foolproof hands while all of us, irrelevant women, were made in the scramble of God's fury and acrimony. Maybe they were born with golden brains worth more than what we, immaterial women, would ever be able to afford if we had to work for ourselves and weren't given the privilege of being sustained by husbands or churches. Maybe they were given an transcendent wisdom that make them prosper and thrive in social, governmental and political matters, while all of us, trivial women, were given nothing but imprudence and ignorance for we can participate in "everything" as they say, but in the world and society surrounding us. Maybe men were born with vocal cords made out of iron since their voices are so strong and vigorous that they impose how all of us women, born with sealed lips, must live and act. Maybe men were born earless since they will never accept to hear a woman pronounce the world "knowledge", since in their blessed exalted minds, all we know about knowledge is that we don't know and should never obtain it. Maybe they were given an inimitable force which makes them capable of supporting any emotional or physical weight, while all of us women, wouldn't handle carrying pencils, papers and books since all we seem capable of holding in our tired useless arms are the Bible and the cross or our childs and their decrepit scrunched blankets. Maybe they acquire blue sacred and noble blood in their veins, while we women, will forever obtain red insignificant fluids rushing through our feeble bodies as a representation of our weakness and finity. Maybe they are the holy angels sent from the skies to live, control and dominate earth while all of us, heinous women, were the leftover souls who were given a second chance to do exactly nothing in order to save ourselves. Maybe men were made to explore every single piece of land and every precious drop of water that fills up all of the seven seas in our world, while we naive women, were made to believe in the existence of mermaids and of a squared planet earth from which sailors can fall from while sailing in the name of exploration. Maybe men are God`s favorites and they will have his protection and forgiveness at all moments and in all things, while all of us condemned women, will never deserve God's preservation and consideration since we were made as inferior secondary creatures who should do nothing more than what we were told to by men, specially not ever under any circumstance commit the worst sin of trying to learn from an old book with the intent to expand our own personal horizons. In the end, maybe all of us, unfulfilled, unvalued and unhopeful women deserve all of what we suffer and endure since we were the ones who truly allowed all of these possible "maybes" come true and haunt us until the point we no longer have a saying, an opinion or a mind. All of us frustrated, disesteemed and defeatist women should commence thinking of ourselves as candles which wistfully and unjustly have never felt nor experienced the power or the sensation of being lit, but should be reckless enough not to need a match in order to enlighten even the darkest of shadows and bring clarity even to the blindest of eyes; so that the tenacious, controlling and powerful matches who once thought we needed them will feel our warmth and know that the so gruntled, despised and discouraging women are long gone and that they can prepare themselves for a long period of our glistening light.
